M-Visa & F-Visa

Issued to those intend to go to China for commercial, trade, education, science & technology, sports, culture activities

Invitation letter issued by the inviting party in China.

Z-Visa

Issued to those who intend to work in China

Valid Notification Letter of Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China (or the original copy of Foreigner’s Work Permit etc.)

X1-Visa

Issued to those who intend to study in China for a period over 180 days

(1) Visa Application For Study in China (JW201/202 form).

(2) Original and photocopy of admission notice issued by a school in China.

X2-Visa

Issued to those who intend to study in China for a period no more than 180 days

Original and photocopy of admission notice issued by a school in China.

C-Visa

Issued to foreign crew members of means of international transportation, including aircraft, trains and ships, or motor vehicle drivers engaged in cross-border transport activities, or to the accompanying family members of the crew members of the above-mentioned ships.

A letter of guarantee issued by a foreign transport company or an invitation letter issued by a relevant entity in China.

R-Visa

Issued to those who are high-level talents.

Confirmation Letter for High Level Foreign Talents

*The spouse and minor child shall provide a certificate of relationship (e.g. marriage certificate, birth certificate) with the applicant to apply for S2 visa.   

J1-Visa

Issued to resident foreign journalists of foreign news organizations stationed in China.　The intended duration of stay in China exceeds 180 days.

Visa Notification Letter issued by the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China or other authorized units and an official letter issued by the media organization for which the journalist works.

J2-Visa

Issued to foreign journalists who intend to go to China for short-term news coverage.　The intended duration of stay in China is no more than 180 days.

Visa Notification Letter issued by the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China or other authorized units and an official note issued by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania and other related authorities.

S1-Visa (residing)

Issued to those who intend to go to China to visit the foreigners working or studying in China to whom they are spouses, parents, sons or daughters under the age of 18 or parents-in-law.  The intended duration of stay in China exceeds 180 days.  

(1) Original and photocopy of certification (marriage certificate, birth certificate, certification of kinship) showing the relationship of immediate family members between applicants and inviting individual.

(2) An invitation letter from the inviting individual (a foreigner who works or studies in China).

(3) A photocopy of the inviting individual's passport and residence permit or Z/M/F/X1 visa.

S2-Visa (visiting family members or other private affairs)

Issued to those who intend to visit their family members who are foreigners working or studying in China, or to those who intend to go to China for inheritance, litigation or other private matters. The intended duration of stay in China is no more than 180 days.

*"family members" refers to spouses, parents, sons, daughters, spouses of sons or daughters, brothers, sisters, grandparents, grandsons, granddaughters and parents-in-law.

(1) Original and photocopy of certification (marriage certificate, birth certificate, certification of kinship) showing the relationship of immediate family members between applicants and inviting individual.

(2) An Invitation letter signed by a foreigner working or studying in China;

(3) A photocopy of the inviting individual's passport, residence permit or Z/M/F/X1 visa.

(4)  The ID of the deceased or sick relatives (e.g. foreigner’s passport etc.) , certificate of death or diagnostic certificate issued by hospital, critical condition notice etc.

(5) Documentation identifying the nature of the private affairs required by the consular officer.

Q1-Visa （family reunion）

Q2-Visa (visiting family members)

(1) Family members of Chinese citizens;

(2) Family members of foreigners with Chinese permanent residence.

*"family members" refers to spouses, parents, parents-in-law, sons, daughters, spouses of sons or daughters, brothers, sisters, grandparents, grandsons, and granddaughters. 

(1) Certification (marriage certificate, birth certificate, household register, certification of kinship issued by Public Security Bureau or notarized certification of kinship) showing the relationship of family members between applicant and inviting individual.

(2) An invitation letter issued by a Chinese citizen or a foreigner with a Chinese permanent residence permit who lives in China.

(3) Chinese ID of the inviting individual (Chinese ID card or household register) or the inviting individual’s passport and permanent residence permit of China.
